807: Compass+Annunciator in Sleekier Design

The C172 Wet Compass+Annunciator (CMP+ANPL) FIP Gauge for MSFS has just been updated.

Function-wise, the update is of no difference to its earlier brothers.
Layout-wise, the sound panel, the OMI and NAV/GPS indicators of the new version are still situated at the bottom of the compass, and the annunciator panel will pop up under the compass window when triggered.  It also comes with backlit.

However, the sizes of the sound panel, the OMI and NAV/GPS indicators on the new version have shrinked significantly and dimmed a little to give the overall compass+annunciator design a more balance and sleek appearance.  In comparison, the earlier design looks a bit bulky.

781: New Wet Compass for MSFS C172

I have a wet compass with Audio Panel and Annunciator made for the C172SP in FSX/P3D.  However, it cannot be simply converted for MSFS because the Audio Panel on the MSFS C172, not only layouts but also programming codes, are different.

Thanks to a US friend Ross’s sponsorship, a new Wet Compass custom-made for the MSFS C172 has been developed accordingly.

The first video below shows the button operations for the Audio Panel, and the second video demonstrates the popping up of the Annunciator Panel when fuel is low and magneto is off.

495: New Generic Wet Compass Released

Unlike the current Cessna Wet Compass, a new generic wet compass for Saitek/Logitech FIP (Flight Instrument Panel) has been created to cope with a larger number of different types of aircraft, including BeechCraft, Piper, Mooney, Robinson, etc.   The compass has been requested for quite some times but I hadn’t had a good idea of how to do it right in the first place until recently.

In addition, the new compass comes with 4 slightly different designs so as to better match with the different layouts in various cockpit requirements.

Although the differences between these designs may not be significant; however, these little or unnoticable touches, are many of the essences I’ve been putting in my gauges.   Because I believe, many times, what makes somethings special are the little things we sometimes ignore. Continue reading

280: Heading Gyro Update #2

My time is still mostly tied up on my grandson lately.   However, I am slowly gaining back some time on flightsimming now.   Just clean installed the latest Prepar3D version 2.5 onto my computer last week.  Similarly, I can put hands onto my unfinished C172 integrated gauge project again.

To render more weather information associated with the Wind Magnitude on the C172_HDCMP_VHeading Gyro gauge, Engine Hours originally on the gauge has been replaced by Visibility as previously mentioned in the note of the gauge’s last update.

The removed Engine Hours will be put onto the coming Airspeed Indicator instead.

Since this update, same as the last one, is supplemental, users are free to keep their existing one or to choose any of the three versions of their choice.  Switching among them is easy too.

279: Heading Gyro Update

C172_HDCMP_WMThe newly released Heading Indicator with Compass & RPM has just been updated to include a digital display for Wind Magnitude.   The extra feature is so added to show the full picture of wind movement as some of the current users who quoted to request.

Notification and update patch has been sent to all existing users.   Next possible feature for the gauge might be the Visibility but not sure yet.

278: Heading Gyro with Compass & RPM

This Heading Indicator is the fifth gauge in my Integrated Series for the Cessna 172.    Next to the Heading Gyro is a small but clear enough Magnetic Compass, which is so layouted to provide a quick reference when performing gyro calibration.

The RPM indicator, although in compact size as well, is placed in a location closing to the real cockpit layout in full-size.   A digital RPM representation is also added for more precise control needs.

Furthermore, a Blue Color Pointer, Continue reading
