COCKPIT: Michael (EPMO, Poland)

Michael has been flying as a private pilot for 6 years, and he is now working on his multi-engine and commercial pilot rating.  His goal is to find a job in aviation.

Michael says that in his experience as a pilot, he realized that a home simulator is a great means to improving his knowledge and practice muscle skills for the devices he is using on board a real plane.  Although his home cockpit for now is nothing special, he says, he is modifying it a lot with new gears to make it as realistic as possible very soon.

531: XPlane Startup Time with FIPs

While working FIP Gauges for X-Plane these days, I find the time reaching the main menu at sim launch takes much longer while FIPs are powered on as well.

Not a big deal, probably.  But if one can shorten the load up time of X-Plane significantly by simply turning on the FIPs ONLY AFTER the main menu is shown, why not ?   Additionally, I find the act eliminates the occasional crash of FIP Gauges in X-Plane as well.

529: Printing Your Own Control Levers

Alex Wierzbowsky’s FIP Customizer is one of the essential tools in my flightsim system.  Lately, he got a 3D printer, thru which he created a number of control lever handles for his A320 and B737 setup.

He says he’s been dreaming of having those levers for many years but the prices of similar products available on the market are not competitive.  So he printed his own.

Alex says the 3D printer plus 1kg of PLA filament cost him Continue reading

527: FIP Gauges for FSX/P3D can now be run in X-Plane

Just noted recently from SPAD.neXt’s website, saying that FIP gauges developed for FSX/P3D platform can now be run in X-Plane using its valuetranscribing feature without any modification.  That’s a good news as I have been stuck for more than two years by the incomplete transcodings of SPAD.neXt’s attempt on making FSX/P3D gauges to be compatible in X-Plane.

In the last few days, I’ve been testing the compatibility of many of my FSX/P3D gauges under X-Plane 11 platform running alongside SPAD.neXt.   Followings are my findings:   Continue reading

525: G5 XP-11 Conversion Supporter Wanted

From time to time I receive inquires asking whether the Generic G5 PFD and HSI will be converted for X-Plane platform.  To better answer the question, I would like to know who are willing to pay in advance to get the instruments done.

If there are up to 10 people who are keen on the gauges, I’ll put the conversion into action within a month or two.  BUT NOTE that the gauges will run on the Logitech FIP XP Plugin only.  And the price is the same as the FSX/P3D version.

Anyone who would like to support the G5 X-Plane conversion project could drop me a note in the contact form below or via the Comment section.  I’ll get back to you once the supporter target is met.

Edit: The G5 Gauges are ready. More information from here.
